Rachel Nelson

Rachel NelsonRachel Nelson is a senior in Agricultural and Rural Policy Studies with a second major in International Agriculture and a minor in Political Science from Seneca, Illinois. Rachel chose the Agricultural and Rural Policy Studies major in order to combine her interest in policy, law, and agriculture. She states, “no other major perfectly satisfied my interests.”

Rachel has held internships with the Agriculture Retailers Association, Midwest Dairy, and the Community Legal Information Center. On campus, Rachel is involved in National Director of Communications, CALS Ambassadors, Cardinal Key Honor Society, Alpha Zeta Honor Society, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and is currently studying abroad in Florence, Italy.

Megan Decker

Megan DeckerMegan Decker is a senior in Agricultural and Rural Policy Studies with a second major in International Agriculture and minors in General Business and Journalism and Mass communications from Rockwell City, Iowa. Megan chose the Agricultural and Rural Policy Studies major for the coursework, as it is a combination of topics she wishes to be knowledgeable in order to pursue a career in the industry.

Megan has help internships in the Office of the Governor, the Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation, and the Iowa Soybean Association. On campus, Megan is involved in CALS Ambassadors, CALS start Something, the Dean Student Advisory Council and is a Rec Services fitness instructor.

Kaylee Kleitsch

Kaylee Kaylee Kleitsch is a senior in Agricultural and Rural Policy Studies with minors in Political Science and Environmental Studies from Fairbank, Iowa. Kaylee chose the Agricultural and rural Policy Studies major because it, “filled a niche I didn’t know I had,” and combined her love of agriculture with her passion for servitude.

Kaylee was one of the 2022 Iowa State Extension and Outreach Rising Star Interns. On campus, Kaylee is involved in the Sigma Alpha, Ag Policy Club,. Student Government, ACES Peer Mentoring, and is a volunteer at Food at First.

Grace Howe

GraceGrace Howe is a senior in Agricultural and Rural Policy Studies with a second major in Journalism and Mass Communications from Waikon, Iowa. Grace chose the Agricultural and Rural Policy Studies major for the variety of courses offered, as well as the uniqueness of the major. “Being a student in ag and rural policy will me stand out when I am applying to future jobs,” states Grace.

Grace has held internships with the Iowa Governor’s Office and Filament Marketing Agency. On campus, Grace is involved with the Dairy Science Club, NAMA, Women in Pre-Law Club, First Amendment Club, and the Line Dancing Club.

Danielle Montgomery

Dani Montgomery Dani Montgomery is a senior in Agricultural and RuralPolicy Studies with a second major in International Agricultural and a minor in Agricultural Business from Belle Plaine, Iowa. She chose the major because of the numerous opportunities it provides. “The Ag and Rural Policy major allows you to pick and choose the classes that interest you the most. It also provides a balances combination of the importance of ag and the policies surrounding the ag world.”

Dani has held internships with NuTech Seed and Corteva Agriscience. On campus, Dani is involved int he Agricultural Business Club and serves on the officer team for the Ag Policy Club. She has completed a travel abroad course to the United Arab Emirates and a semester long study abroad to Thessaloniki, Greece.

Alexandra Osborn

AlexandraAlexandra Osborn is a senior in Agricultural and Rural Policy Studies with a minor in Agronomy from Wellington, Missouri. Alexandra chose the Agricultural and Rural Policy Studies major for the niche coursework, as well as the networking opportunities available.

Alexandra has help internships with Beck’s Hybrids, Bayer Crop Science and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. On campus, Alexandra is involved in the Ag Policy Club and the American Seed Trade Association.
