David Peters receives USDA grant to study the rural quality of life during demographic transition and pandemic recovery

Professor David Peters received a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture as part of the Agriculture and Food Research Initiative. The grant, “Understanding Rural Quality of Life in an Era of Demographic Transition and COVID-19 Recovery: 2024 Wave of the Iowa Small Towns Project,” surveys over 30,000 households across 125 towns with populations between 500 and 10,000 to better understand the impact of demographic changes (population decline and diversification) and recovery from COVID-19.
