Shawn Dorius, associate professor of sociology, was part of a research team that presented a talk titled “Substance Use Among Iowa Families: What We Learned About Child Removals” to the Iowa Department of Human Services in December.
The researchers presented results of a recent substance use investigation. The focus of the presentation was to report results about the relationship between substance use and child removals in the context of Iowa families, and included recommendations on how to customize department efforts in child removal cases.
