Bio

Dr. Jeff Bouffard is a Professor in the Criminal Justice Studies Program (Sociology Department). He recently served as the Research Director for the Correctional Management Institute at Sam Houston State University, where he was also a Professor. Prior to that, he was the Director of the Criminal Justice Program at Washington State University. He received his Ph.D. (in Criminology and Criminal Justice) in 2000 from the University of Maryland, College Park and his Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from St. Michael’s College in Vermont. In addition to studying offender decision making and control theories, he has conducted numerous evaluations of community corrections and offender rehabilitation programs, including specialty courts, offender reentry programs and substance abuse treatment programs. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in scholarly journals such as Justice Quarterly, Journal of Research in Crime and Delinquency, Journal of Interpersonal Violence, Crime and Delinquency, Criminal Behavior and Mental Health, Journal of Criminal Justice, Prison Journal, Journal of Offender Rehabilitation, Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment, and Journal of Drug Issues.
