Bio
Professor Hochstetler is a criminologist. He is particularly interested in offender decision-making, the foreground of crime, and offender self-conceptions as captured in interviews and surveys. He uses multiple methods in his work but is best known for writings that rely on qualitative methods. He also maintains interests in white-collar crime and the predictors of punishment. He has published on a broad range of topics in leading journals in sociology and criminology including Social Problems, Criminology, Justice Quarterly, Crime and Delinquency, Journal of Criminal Justice, Crime Law and Social Change, and Journal of Contemporary Ethnography.
