Shawn Dorius, associate professor of sociology, had his research featured at ISU Day at the Capitol on March 5. With funding by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Data Science for the Public Good is a summer fellows program that trains the next generation of social and computer scientists in the use of data science to solve pressing local problems throughout Iowa. Members of the research team met with Iowa legislators and Governor Kim Reynolds to describe how they are using data to engage with and support Iowa communities.
