Ann Oberhauser receives Inclusion Initiative Grant, was visiting professor in Sweden

Ann Oberhauser, professor of sociology and director of the Women’s and Gender Studies Program, was one of eight women directors at Iowa State who received an Inclusion Initiative Grant from the university’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion for 2019-20. The project, titled “Leading from the Middle: Creating a Network of Women Directors at ISU,” focuses on women in middle management positions that address unique and complex challenges. Through this project, Oberhauser and her colleagues will work directly with students, staff and faculty to develop a focused learning community that will strengthen the foundation and community of the university as a whole.

Earlier this summer, Oberhauser was the Adlerbertska Visiting Professor of Sustainable Development at the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. She worked with colleagues on research, taught undergraduate classes and advised graduate students. She also presented her research on political polarization and place in the North American heartland.
